University of Central Lancashire

Case Study

UCLan is one of the UK’s largest universities, with a student and staff community approaching 38,000. With such size, comes a considerable impact on society and the environment, which has resulted in considerable efforts to reduce their impact within all of their practices. This continued commitment to the environmental and society has resulted in the University being regarded as a First Class University by People and Planet in the 2015 University League.

Procurement is a key part of the University’s sustainability initiative, with the University often working directly with suppliers to improve their supply chain; so when it came to sourcing garments, the University sought out a supplier they could depend on to deliver exceptional products, at the standards they required. As a Fairtrade University, it was important that the products were certified by the Fairtrade Foundation, as well as meeting a range of other criteria. A.M. Custom Clothing ticked all the boxes, working with UCLan to ensure the products and artwork were exactly as they needed.

A.M. Custom Clothing have since gone on to supply other parts of the university with a wide range of products.
