Fairtrade Friday – Ubuntu Cola

A.M. Custom Clothing are leading suppliers of Fairtrade products, so as you would imagine we are big advocates of Fairtrade. Each week on our blog we like to introduce you to another one of our favourite Fairtrade brands, or Fairtrade brands we’ve come across during our week; covering everything from food brands, to fully fledged shops.
This week we want to introduce you to Ubuntu, the first cola product in the UK to get the Fairtrade mark, of which was received back in 2007. How is it Fairtrade we hear you ask; well the brand use the highest quality Fairtrade cane sugar from the Kasinthula Cooperative in Malawi and from the Kaleya Cooperative in Zambia. As well as this, the brand take it a step further, as each year they give at least 15% of their profits to their Ubuntu Africa Programme. This money is used to support the sugar growers and their communities, as well as help projects that show entrepreneurship and creative ways to tackle poverty. Ubuntu is a great refreshing product, ideal for those hot summer days (hopefully on the way!). What’s more, you can feel great knowing in drinking their products you are helping to make a tangible difference to those producing Ubuntu cola.
