Personalised Heavyweight T-shirts – The Best Option for You
Fabric weight can often be the main differentiation between two t-shirts, a heavyweight t-shirt gives the illusion of superior quality and durability, whilst in actuality, lighter weight t-shirts can be just as durable given the correct care. Ultimately it’s the fabric quality, not weight that determines the durability and feel of a t-shirt.
Bulk T-shirt Printing for Your Brand
If you are a brand sourcing blank t-shirts for printing, you may wish to opt for a heavyweight personalised t-shirt that your customers would perceive as high quality. However a heavyweight t-shirt may not be suitable for everyday wear. A heavyweight t-shirt is most suited to cooler weather due to the fabric density and warmth of the garment, whereas a lower weight t-shirt is breathable and versatile for all seasons.
Garment Weight
The weight of fabric is measured in gsm, or grams per square metre. A high gsm means that a garment is made of thicker fabric and can fetch a higher price due to the relative amount of fibres per square metre.
A typical, everyday t-shirt ranges from 120-150 gsm, usually made from cotton and would be most suitable for workwear and can be classed as ‘retail quality’.
T-shirts between 160-200 gsm are classed as heavyweight and are more suited to winter or workwear.
